Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
There is one question that tends to be asked more often than any other, so
we may as well deal with it at the outset. Typically it goes like this :
"I'm not an engine enthusiast and my Lister is simply doing a job of work. Is
it worth repairing ?"
Each case is different, but as a rule of thumb the bigger the engine and device it powers,
the more likely it is to be worth repairing. If you have a small concrete mixer with a tired drum,
grinding gears and a wonky frame then clearly there's not much sense in doing engine repairs of
any consequence. On the other hand, if your Lister is running a generator or powering your boat, for example,
the picture is very different. Lister units tended to be installed with quality devices and the overall cost
of purchasing and adapting a replacement engine to suit the installation is likely to be significantly
greater than repairing the original Lister engine. By most current standards, Lister units are substantially
over engineered and a well executed repair should give many further years of service. An added bonus with Lister
Diesel units is that they are amongst the most tolerant of a variety of alternative fuels, so whether you are thinking Bio,
cooking oil or whatever, you have one of the best of all makes for the purpose. If you are undecided, Contact Us

This is now a difficult area. For several years prior to the main factory closure, Lister were sourcing items from a variety of overseas suppliers. A number of the items we sell
now are from these same suppliers, but not necessarily in Lister packaging. A lot of 'genuine' Lister items available currently are from various diverse sources; only the bag is the difference.
We do, of course, have substantial stocks of original UK produced absolutely genuine Lister items, but as these sell out it may well be a case of the current alternative or no part at all.
No. That's one bit of Lister that lives on -- you will find them on the net.
No. Like it says -- just Lister. We occasionally have a few Petter items.
